Description
Dear Colleagues:
It is my pleasure to invite you to the fall 2017 Professional Development Program being held by SNECUPA-HR, your local chapter of CUPA-HR. This program will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 in the Hogan Center at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA.
In the morning, we will be hosting the session, “Caution: Explicit Content!” by Crystal Clear Consulting. This program demonstrates how much of our “miscommunication “ is actually “under-communication” where we withhold important parts of our perspective out of some version of fear. By doing this we unintentionally increase the gulf between us and prevent authentic conversation from taking place. In this interactive workshop, learn what stops us from telling the truth and how to become more constructively explicit. By the end of this 3-hour session, participants will have:
-
Understanding of the psychology behind why we hide the truth
-
Developed greater self-awareness about their own communication patterns and identified their “under-communication” habits
-
Understanding of the value of adding mindfulness to your communication practices
-
Familiarity with several tools to make their experience and perspective explicit
-
Practiced with one or more tools in communication with others
Crystal Clear Consulting is a team of expert organization development consultants and executive coaches with broad and deep expertise within higher education and social benefit organizations. Primary speakers provided are Francine Crystal, President, and Kande McDonald, Vice President.
In the afternoon, our discussion will focus on a Legal Update from Katrina Chapman from Holland and Knight. Katrina Chapman is an associate in the Litigation Section and a member of the firm’s Education Team and Labor, Employment and Benefits Practice Group. Ms. Chapman concentrates her practice in the representation of private educational institutions, as well as in employment law and related litigation. Read more: https://www.hklaw.com/Katrina-Chapman/
